As we begin 2010 we would like to take a look back at 2009 and briefly recap AEPi accomplishments:
- This semester we are confident that we will complete our philanthropy goal of $225,000 one year early, raising the money in 4 years rather than 5.
- Lion's Legacy- 51 Chapters each raised between $100 and $8200 for AEPi's Official Philanthropy over AEPi's 96th Anniversery weekend. Some highlights include: 24 hour BBQ by Babson College, Dumps for Dollars Event by UC Davis, Car Smash by College of New Jersey, 24 hour Tennis Tournament at Drexel University, and a Poker Tournament held at Northwestern University.
- Over 60 brothers from our Chicago chapters: University of Chicago, DePaul University, Univeristy of Illinois-Chicago, and Northwestern, participated in a brotherhood day of remembrance at the Chicago National Holocaust Memorial Museum.
- Ohio State University completed 877 hours of community service in their first quarter, including sending ten brothers to New Orleans, for a rebuilding effort with Jewish Federation and the St. Bernard Project.
In the next semester the Department of Jewish Programming and Philanthropy plans to help our chapters conduct even more philanthropy and community service projects, increase Israel awareness programming, and provide grant opportunities for more Jewish religious and cultural programming. Some specifics include:
- The creation of the new AEPi Summer Jewish Identity Enrichment Conference: Hineni.
- Sending fourteen brothers to Israel on Jewish National Fund's Alternative Spring Break, where they will help rebuild home and playgrounds in the Negev.
- Having brothers partner with other Jewish-campus life organizations to throw Purim parties and Passover seders.
- Adopting an International Jewish Identity Initiative
- The AEPi Philanthropy Taskforce will begin interviewing candidates for AEPi's 2010 Official Philanthropy.
We would like to congratulate all our chapters for their hard work. We are consistently impressed by the generosity, creativity, and commitment that our brotherhood has shown to philanthropy and community service and look forward to another successful semester.
